Parts of Leviticus That Don’t Show Up on Billboards

In my second career (doing ballet master class tours) I drive all over the country.  Recently, in the Bible Belt, I drove past a series of billboards citing Leviticus 23:13 (the kill the gays verse) and some variant of the message “Homosexuality is an abomination– God.”

I do wonder how much God spent on this marketing campaign and whether he went through an agency.  I would have thought he could swing at least a basic cable campaign, but I’m sure he knows what he’s doing.

I was reading a book today on a subject unrelated to religion (or billboards).  It happened to mention another verse in Leviticus that I don’t recall hearing that often.

“The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.” (19:34)

I got to wondering why God hasn’t taken out billboards reading “Treat Mexican immigrants as fellow citizens.-God.”

Maybe he’s saving that one for the radio blast.
